Muniyal institute of Ayurveda Medical Sciences Manipal NSS unit organised Clean India “Beach Clean Up Drive” programme on Saturday Oct 2(7AM to 9AM) at malpe beach.The Principal welcomed the guests and told that Clean India intiative will motivate public to adopt cleanliness in public places.Floral tribute was offered to Mahatma Gandhi statue by guest and dignitaries. NSS volunteers offered musical tribute to Gandhiji by singing “Vaishnav janato..”song.Chief guest Mrs.Laxmi Manjunath Saliyan, Vice president Udupi municipal council appreciated the clean India intiative and emphasized about public hygiene as a fundamental duty of every citizen towards the country.Mrs. Edlina karkada Member of Malpe central ward, reminded about Gandhi Jayanthi being celebrated as a festival during her childhood days and congratulated the college and NSS unit.NSS programme officer Dr Sudeepa and CAO, Mr. Yogesh Shetty were present at the event.NSS volunteers Ms. Diksha, Ms.Sahana Acharya and Ms.Mithali hosted the programme.The teaching faculty and 60 NSS volunteers took part in the beach cleaning programme at Malpe beach and 50 bags full of plastic waste was collected.
