Dravyaguna

This Department deals with Medicinal plants of Ayurvedic Classics, their identification, properties, action and therapeutic uses in accordance with fundamental Principles of Ayurveda.
The Department of Dravya Guna is essentially involved with the research, teaching & training at undergraduate and post graduate levels. Department is equipped with a sophisticated pharmacognosy & phytochemical laboratory. Various aspects of flora are studied for exploring and determining their properties. The Department maintains a demonstrative medicinal plant garden within the campus and outside. Department has developed sacred herbal gardens. It also encourages the commercial cultivation of medicinal plants. The department has a rich museum of dry drug samples. Department has two professors, one reader and two lecturers.
There is tremendous scope of research in this subject which will be apart from present undereducated teaching and postgraduate teaching in future as well.
