Ayurveda offers a unique opportunity to evolve a science of healthy, harmonious and long life. Its holistic approach to health and disease, involving body, mind and spirit, can provide a broader framework to understand research data emerging from reductionist biomedical sciences. A personalized, multi-factorial approach to healthcare and cure has been the basic strategy of Ayurveda as opposed to the generalized and single target strategy of biomedicine. Ayurveda considers body, mind and spirit along with their relationships with the bio-cultural environment. Ayurveda knowledge system is itself structured as a translational model – with Tattva (principles) translating to Śāstra(theoretical constructs) and Śāstra translating to Vyavahāra (practical applications). Thus the whole system is designed to translate knowledge into action that is of benefit to society – lokānugrahapravṛttaḥ śāstravādaḥ.In other words, the purpose of the Śāstra, especially in the context of medicine, is to improve quality of human life, and not to be confined within the limits of academic explorations. Bridging the gap between the shlokas( the scientific verses in medical treatises) and the clinical decisions remain a greatest challenge and uncertainty for Ayurveda community . Effective comprehension and translation of true intentions of shastra called the shastraarthas into the requirements of on the target diagnosis, management and prevention of diseases are mandatory for the successful intended results.
Muniyal Ayurveda took its inspiration from Late Dr. U. Krishna Muniyal, who practiced Ayurveda for more than 40 years and was the disciple of Pandith Taranath, a great Ayurveda scholar who had treated Mahatma Gandhi several times.

Dr.Krshna Life Sciences Ltd. has been established to promote ancient medical therapy to the vastmajority of the human race with the expertise and knowledge gained in the field of Ayurvedicmedicines over several centuries. It aims to provide comprehensive healthcare facilities acrossIndia. Dr.Krshna Life Sciences Ltd. also provides low cost medical treatment to the poor and theneedy through its Muniyal Ayurveda Family Health Card and family clinics.
Muniyal Institute of Ayurveda Medical Sciences was established with a vision to impart the knowledge of Ayurveda to one and all. The Institution is run by Dr. U. Krishna Muniyal Memorial Trust (R) and is located in a spacious building, housing the Muniyal Ayurveda Hospital & Research Institute, a super specialty Ayurvedic hospital.
College is established in 1998 to impart quality Ayurveda education. Presently we are running BAMS course of duration 5 1/2 years with an intake of 100 seats. Institute also has Post graduate courses, M.D. and MS Ayurveda in five disciplines that include, Rasashastra and BhaishajyaKalpana, DravyagunaVijnana, Shalya Tantra, Kayachikitsa and Panchakarma with a total admission capacity of 29 students. All these courses are affiliated to RGUHS, Bangalore, recognized by CCIM and Ministry of AYUSH Govt. of India.
The college intends to train the students in Ayurveda by using modern scientific ways, so that when they complete their course of study, they will be ready to face the challenges ahead without any setback. It will also encourage the students to involve themselves in Ayurvedic research.
This is an effort by a traditional medical family having five decades of experience in Ayurveda, to impart its knowledge to the future generation. Institute is maintaining state-of-the-art facilities to impart quality educational of the highest standard. Institution offers extensive practical training in the attached 160 bedded, Super Specialty Ayurvedic Hospital and the vast Herbal Gardens and intensive on-the-job training in the Medicine Manufacturing Unit.
